Songs & Scripture: Thrive (Mark Hall & Matthew West)

angel oak 2Hello friends, it has been a while since my last Songs & Scripture post. I heard this one on the radio a few weeks ago and it really encouraged me so I was inspired to dig through my Bible again and find the related passages. Also, check out the amazing “Angel Oak” photo above, that tree is thought to be as old as 1,400 years old! What an example of a thriving tree like we see in Psalm 1 & Jeremiah 17!

Thrive

Here in this worn and weary land (Jeremiah 17:5-6)
Where many a dream has died (Proverbs 13:12)

Like a tree planted by the water (Psalm 1:1-3, Jeremiah 17:7-8)
We never will run dry

So living water flowing through (Jeremiah 2:13, Jeremiah 17:13, John 4:10-14, John 7:38, Revelation 7:17)
God we thirst for more of You (Psalm 42:1-2, Psalm 63:1, Psalm 143:6, Matthew 5:6, John 4:15)
Fill our hearts and flood our souls (Psalm 81:10, Matthew 12:35, Luke 6:45-46, John 7:38, Romans 15:13, 2 Corinthians 4:6, Ephesians 5:18, Colossians 2:2)
With one desire

Just to know You and (Jeremiah 9:23-24, Jeremiah 29:13, Jeremiah 31:33-34, John 17:3, Philippians 3:8-10)
To make You known (Matthew 28:18-20, John 13:34-35, Galatians 6:10)
We lift Your name on High
Shine like the sun make darkness run and hide (2 Samuel 22:29, Job 12:22, Psalm 18:28, Psalm 112:4, Isaiah 9:2, Isaiah 42:16, John 1:4-5, John 8:12, John 12:46, Acts 26:18, 2 Corinthians 4:6, Ephesians 5:8, 1 Thessalonians 5:5, 1 Peter 2:9, 1 John 1:5)
We know we were made for so much more (Esther 4:14)
Than ordinary lives (Ephesians 1:4, Colossians 3:23-24)
It’s time for us to more than just survive
We were made to thrive (John 10:10, John 16:33, Philippians 4:11-13)

Into Your word we’re digging deep (Deuteronomy 29:29, Psalm 1:1-3, Psalm 119, Romans 15:4, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
To know our Father’s heart (Jeremiah 9:23-24, Jeremiah 29:13, Jeremiah 31:33-34, John 17:3, Philippians 3:10)

Into the world we’re reaching out (Isaiah 49:6, Matthew 5:14-16, Matthew 25:40, Matthew 28:18-20, Luke 14:13-14, 1 Peter 3:15)
To show them who You are

Joy unspeakable (1 Peter 1:8)
Faith unsinkable (Matthew 14:30-31)*
Love unstoppable (Romans 8:31-39, 1 Corinthians 13)
Anything is possible (Genesis 18:14, Job 42:2, Jeremiah 32:17, Matthew 17:20, Matthew 19:26, Mark 9:23, Mark 10:27, Luke 1:37, Luke 18:27, Ephesians 3:20, Philippians 4:12-13)

*I realize that this verse seems contradictory to the song, but think about it– our faith is unsinkable because of Who we place our faith in, not because of our faith staying strong in our own power.
